WHERE WE STARTED

image9

VODKA

Our vodka is made from Skagit Valley Winter Wheat and Copeland Barley. It has a slightly sweet aroma and subtle fruit notes that is pleasing to the pallet. Its flavor is a unique aroma and taste that is clearly different from any other. This 90 proof spirit is triple distilled and charcoal filtered.

image10

MOONSHINE

Our Moonshine is made from eastern Washington corn from Basin City, WA.  We grind the corn at the distillery ourselves for the freshest of corn to go into our moonshine mash. We triple distill and triple charcoal filter this one for a better taste. We have also modified our recipe with local produce for a seriously different flavor. At 100 proof it is for the moonshine connoisseur.

FRESH LOCAL INGREDIENTS

WASHINGTON CORN

image12

We get the corn from Basin City, WA. We food barrel seal it for freshness. We grind it right on property. It is a beautiful yellow color and smells so good. We love doing it the old fashion way and feel good about our process.

SKAGIT VALLEY MALTING

image14

We spent the last 6 months creating and testing possible products. Our local grains and fresh produce mash make our products unlike any others. Northwest Brewer's has been a great supplier of products as we continue our growth. https://www.skagitvalleymalting.com

WASHINGTON WHEAT

image15

We are using Winter Wheat and a Barley from Skagit Valley. When we talk about trial and error well...we really mean it. This venture has been a huge learning experience. We found out about anti-foam. We have made so many funny mistakes. Practice makes perfect and we have made the perfect Vodka.

OUR STANDARDS

Wheelhouse Distillery cares about our environment and acknowledges the importance of sustainability.  We are at the heart of both the fishing industry and the agricultural mecca of the Skagit Valley so it is our goal to ask our partners about their methods of production and get to know their products and processes to align with our beliefs. We want to be able to ensure our customers that our spirits were sustainably produced and our employees and owners take pride in that knowledge.

Ethical Partnerships

Our business plan took into consideration our water usage and our waste.  Wheelhouse included  local farmers as our suppling partners for our berries and produce and others to take our spent mash as animal food.  Our deionized water is recycled to barrels for a second use.   We are committed to protecting our employees, customers, and the environment. We ensure that our products are sustainably produced and expect the same of our suppliers.

Validating Wheelhouse Products

We will be sure that as our applications are reviewed and then certified our labels will proudly display our commitments. USDA, Organic, Non GMO, Low Gluten, and WSDA certifications as a part of our commitment to provide validated products are being used to produce the finest Vodkas and Moonshine.

PICTURED RIGHT - Maximus the Distillery Dog. The health of our friends and family is very important. We protect our clean space with our knowledge and our passion for reusable and clean products.

Not much gets by Max.

NEW TASTING ROOM

A Part of History

A wall of history separates the main distillery and our customer area. The barn doors belonging to a historic barn in Lynden, WA  and  the  new  barback  to  the  old  Coast  to  Coast.  While we were looking for some antique prohibition pieces, we were thrilled to win the bid and bring back peices  era  authentic to  prohibition. The tasting room has an old still with spout and an old tasting cup  was purchased in eastern Washington. Its hard to imaging how they made moonshine in it. The pictures on the walls are from the local museum and display Skagit County events and bars during Prohibition.
